Frequently Asked Questions

What can therapy do for me?

First and most importantly, you get the most from therapy when you give it your all.  Therapy can help with self awareness, improve relationships, gain strategies, and learn new ways of coping.  It can help with identifying and working through feelings and understanding the challenges in your life.  Therapy can be a safe place to deal with life struggles and help work through pain and sadness.  It can provide feedback and perspective.  Therapy is not about telling you what to do, but about offering suggestions and guidance to help you choose the best direction forward.  No matter what the circumstances, you can always make changes to create a better life.

How do I find the right therapist?

Finding a therapist is a very personal decision.  It can take time to find the right person for you.  It's very important that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist.  Can you imagine trusting this person?  Do you feel respected, understood, and accepted by this therapist?  Are you able to ask questions and express concerns?  Taking that first step is difficult, but finding the right therapist  who will work with you to understand the challenges you face is a step in the right direction.
